Meet Ken, Site Supervisor & Project Manager at Benchmark Homes. Ken was Benchmark’s very first site superintendent, managing the Yorkson project in 2007. He has now built over 200 homes and is a valuable member of the Benchmark family, read on to learn a little more about him!
What is your position at Benchmark and how long have you been with the company?
I am a site supervisor; project manager and I have been with Benchmark for 11 years!
How does your past experience contribute to your success in your current role?
My past experience allows me to see the business from a broad angle. This allows me to be versatile and handle a variety of different tasks, as well as providing assistance to other staff.
What is your favourite part of the job and why?
My favorite part of the job would be the overall management of a project. Whether in the office or on site, managing a large site, problem solving and dealing with a variety of personalities.
What is one of the most memorable projects you have worked on?
One of my most recent projects was Morgan Crest located in South Surrey. It had a variety of homes styles and sizes which offered a variety of products to work on.
How does Benchmark differ from other companies you have worked for?
Previous to Benchmark Homes, I ran my own construction/renovation company. Benchmark has the same values that I have and so it was a great fit.
What are some of Benchmark’s values that you stand behind and incorporate into your work ethic?
Honesty, integrity, hard work, and a no nonsense get it done approach.
Describe your dream home:
My dream home would be a 2-story home with a basement. Master on the main with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom up. Main floor would also have a games room for a pool table. House would be located on a ½ acre and would have a 3-bay shop. No biggie right?!
What do you like to do outside of work?
I enjoy camping with my family, cars, socializing, water sports, and home improvements, especially landscaping.
What is a quote or motto that you live by?
God, family, work…that’s supposed to be the order. I don’t always get it right!
Who is someone who inspires you and why?
People who inspire me are men who work hard, care for their families and have honour and integrity.
