A barbeque dinner recipe to be eaten off a Benchmark Homes porch

Warm summer nights mean it’s time to host an outdoor BBQ dinner on the covered patio of your new Benchmark Home! Make something for every pallet with these BBQ burger recipes that cater to beef buffs, chicken connoisseurs, or veggie veterans alike!

Mouth-Watering Beef Burgers:

Ingredients:

1 egg

1 teaspoon mustard

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 small onion, finely grated

1 clove garlic, minced

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon pepper

1 lb medium ground beef

Optional Add-Ins:

1 tablespoon Caesar or Greek dressing, sour cream or yogurt

1 tablespoon sundried tomato, chopped

1 tablespoon ketchup, barbecue, teriyaki, or hoisin sauce

2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning

Directions:

Lightly oil grill & heat BBQ to medium.

Whisk egg in a bowl and add in mustard, Worcestershire, onion, garlic, salt, pepper and any optional add-ins.

Crumble in ground beef and mix ingredients together using your hands or a fork.

Gently shape the mixture into round puck-shaped patties about ¾ inch thick.

Make a shallow impression in the centre of each patty using your thumb.

Place burgers on oiled and heated grill and close lid.

Cook burgers for about 6-8 mins per side or until the inside is no longer pink.

Remove burgers from grill and dress as desired!

Serves 4.

 

 

Juicy Chicken Burgers:

The final form of Benchmark Homes' hamburger recipe

Ingredients:

1 pound ground chicken breast

¼ cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon onion powder

¼ teaspoon garlic powder

¼ teaspoon black pepper

¼ teaspoon salt

¼ cup BBQ sauce

1 onion, sliced

1 tablespoon olive oil

 

Optional Add-Ins:

1 apple, chopped

Top with gouda cheese

Top with grilled pineapple

 

Directions:

Set BBQ to medium heat.

Combine chicken, BBQ sauce, paprika, onion, garlic powder, salt, pepper, cheese and any other additional add-ins in a large bowl.

Mix ingredients until combine.

Using your hands, form equally sized patties.

Place patties on grill and cook for about 8 minutes per side or until cooked thoroughly.

While burgers are cooking, sauté onions in a skillet on medium heat with olive oil, salt and pepper. Cook for 10 minutes until caramelized.

Add cooked patties to toasted buns and top with onions and any other desired toppings.

Serves 4.

 

Hearty Veggie Burgers:

Ingredients:

16 ounces black beans, rinsed and drained

½ green bell pepper, chopped

½ onion, chopped

3 cloves garlic, chopped

1 egg

1 tablespoon chilli powder

1 tablespoon cumin

½ cup bread crumbs

 

Option Add-Ins:

1 teaspoon Thai chill or hot sauce

¼ cup cheese of your choice, grated

 

Directions:

Set BBQ to high heat and lightly oil a sheet of aluminum foil.

In a mixing bowl, mash black beans with a fork until thick and pasty.

Add bell pepper, onion, and garlic to beans and mix.

Combine egg, chili powder, cumin and chilli sauce separately before adding to bean mixture.

Form mixture into patties.

Place patties on foil and grill of 8 minutes on each side.

Serves 4.
